
18 people were detained in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Eighteen people were arrested as Los Angeles police busted an organized crime ring that targeted clothing and shoe stores last week, authorities said.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the suspects ranged in age from 15 to 20 years old and were linked to the chain’s store thefts on Thursday and Friday, where about $23,000 worth of merchandise was stolen.
They are believed to have been involved in at least 14 previous incidents in which an estimated $90,000 in stolen items were stolen, police said Saturday.
The department has not identified the suspects or the retailers affected.
The stolen goods were confiscated and returned to the seller Los Angeles Times informed.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was investigating.
