
A pedestrian was killed in Encinitas while trying to get a flower for Mother’s Day –
ENCINITAS (KUSI) – On Mother’s Day, a man who got out of his car and crossed the road to pick a flower was beaten and killed by a vehicle.
The accident happened at about 4 pm on Piraeus Street near Normandy Road, according to the sergeant of the San Diego County Sheriff. W. Clem.
According to investigators, the man, who was hit, got out of the car, crossed the lanes to the south and north and to the east side of Piraeus Road to pick up the flower, Clem said. A car heading north to Piraeus knocked him down.
The man was taken to Scripps-La Jolla Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Clem said.
The driver of the car was not injured, Clem said.
