Aaron CarterFiancee Melanie Martin put on a brave face as she celebrated their son Prince’s first birthday at Chuck E. Cheese, just weeks after the star’s tragic death aged 34.

Melanie held her son tenderly in her arms as she celebrated the holiday with family and friends in Costa Mesa. California on Tuesday.

Aaron’s presence was felt throughout the evening with Melanie carrying a huge photo collage of the late pop star and Prince’s birthday cake featuring a photo of his father.

Melanie admired her son as she carried him around the playground with her attentive friends by her side.

The young mother was beaming with joy, sitting next to her son on a miniature carousel.

The birthday boy also got to meet Chuck E. Cheese, and Melanie helped her teenager give the mascot a high five.

Her supportive friends also showered the young man with love.

Melanie posted a video of the moment on her Instagram Stories, writing: “…we have to be strong for our son.”

Melanie shared many moments from Prince’s birthday on her account, including photos of his birthday cake and celebrations, as well as a video of a Times Square billboard featuring Aaron and his son.

She admitted Prince’s birthday will be “difficult” in light of his father’s death as she shared a photo montage of Aaron and Prince.

“Happy birthday to my boy Prince Lyric Carter… Today is going to be hard for me but I know your daddy is playing birthday songs for you in heaven I love you boy!!!” she signed the post.

Carter was found dead in his bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California on November 5 at the age of 34.

An official cause of death has yet to be determined, but police reportedly found several canisters of compressed air and bottles of prescription pills at the scene.

Aaron was cremated and the death certificate indicated that his ashes would be deposited with his twin sister, Angel Carter.

Carter was discovered by his housekeeper, known only as Betty, who had been living in the house for three weeks. The woman was homeless and Carter and his girlfriend, Melanie, were asked to look after the house after a friend was burgled.

Carter said in an interview in August that he had been to rehab four times and “finally got it right.” But the following month, he returned to an outpatient program to address his “triggers.”

Carter was living with Melanie at the time of his death.

Neighbors described the relationship as turbulent, saying they often heard the couple shouting at each other, and the police were called at least three times.

One neighbor told DailyMail.com that Carter often locked Martin out of the house, leaving her banging on the door and screaming: “Let me in.”

A neighbor said that one day another resident knocked on Carter’s door and Melanie answered.

She was asked if the music could be turned down. Melanie said she would pass the information on to Aaron. A few minutes later, Aaron knocked on the neighbor’s door and started yelling at the neighbor, calling her a “s**t and a ***.”

Another person in the house told Aaron to leave their property. The police were called and Aaron tried to tell the police that his neighbor had attacked him. There were no arrests.

“Every neighbor has that ‘neighbor’ to deal with, he was that ‘neighbor.’ – said the man.

Melanie showed up at the house after the news of Carter’s death. She was seen sobbing and being comforted by Carter’s real estate agent Christy Limpus-Hathaway.

She released a statement saying: “My fiance Aaron Carter has passed away. I love Aaron with all my heart and it will be a journey raising a son without a father. Please respect my family’s privacy as we grieve the loss of someone we love dearly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. We are very grateful for your thoughts and prayers.”

Earlier this year, Carter filed for custody of their son and a petition for protection against Martin at the Antelope Valley Courthouse in Los Angeles County.

In a court filing, he accused his ex of “emotional distress, suffering, pushing and scratching” and claimed she used suicide threats to “emotionally abuse” him.

Melanie was seen moving her belongings out of the Carter house last week.

The former child star tried to sell the house, but it was taken off the market after his death.

Carter reportedly died without a will, meaning the state will decide who will inherit his assets.
