Jay Lena breaks bones in motorcycle accident months after fire
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two months later underwent operations due to serious burns, Jay Leno is now battling multiple broken bones after being knocked off his motorcycle.
Comedian and former “Tonight Show” host. said a Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist On Thursday, January 17, he broke his collarbone and two ribs and cracked his kneecaps.
The November garage fire and the January crash came from his passion for working on vintage cars. While repairing the fuel line of a retro car, he suffered gasoline burns on his face, hands and chest. Last week it was a vintage motorcycle.
He told the Review-Journal’s John Katsilametes that he was test-driving a 1940 motorcycle when he noticed the smell of leaking gas.
“So I turned onto a side street and drove through the parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had strung a wire across the parking lot, but it didn’t have a flag on it,” Leno, 72, said. “So you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late.”
He insisted he was fine and would even work this weekend, adding that the intense coverage of the November fire had kept him quiet in the days since last week’s crash.
Leno took over NBC’s “Tonight” when longtime host Johnny Carson retired in 1992. He was replaced by Conan O’Brien in 2009, but NBC cooled when the show’s ratings fell and brought Leno back as host in 2010. He remained in the job until Jimmy Fallon took over in 2014.
Leno turned his love of cars into the CNBC series Jay Leno’s Garage and hosts a revamped game show You Bet Your Life.
After the fire, he was hospitalized for nine days, but six days after his release he returned to performing stand-up at a club in Southern California. People reported last year.
