Splash Mountain is closing as work begins to transform the iconic Disney attraction

One of the most popular and iconic attractions in Disneyland and Walt Disney World has begun renovations.
Splash Mountain turns into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
On Sunday, the riders made their final trip up Splash Mountain. Some guests reportedly waited hours to board the ride for the last time.
The characters of the cartoon “The Princess and the Frog” will appear in the new attraction. The creators say visitors will feel like they’ve “stepped into Tiana’s world” as they hear a special blend of “Louisiana-born rhythm and blues.”
According to Disney, starting in 2019 there is a plan to change the theme of the log ride.
Since opening at both parks, Splash Mountain has been based on the movie “Song of the South,” which has been slammed by critics for its racist stereotypes since its 1946 release.
“The Adventures of Tiana Bai” is scheduled for 2024.
