The graduate gives birth to a child a few hours before graduation

One graduate of Dillard University in New Orleans spent a monumental weekend. Jada Sales ’plans for the start were postponed when the night before Saturday morning ceremony she began giving birth. “I thought I would go on stage to get a diploma, instead I had a child,” Sales wrote on Twitter. “My sweet face decided to make its way into my big day (now his).” President Dillard, who is leaving his post, Walter Kimbro, says that on Saturday early Saturday he received a message about the delivery of Sales. He and his wife decided to visit their new mom and graduate from the hospital to award her a diploma on Sunday. The Sales family and, of course, her newborn boy were present. “I even made a brush part of the beginning! It really was a very enjoyable moment. I’ll never forget it,” says Kimbro. “For me, that’s what HBCU is!” Sales received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a focus on law.
