The wave remains invincible as Morgan and Rill score goals away at the Chicago Red Stars

Helping the San Diego Wave remain undefeated in the NWSL game, Alex Morgan converted a penalty on Sunday in the 56th minute when the home team beat the Chicago Red Stars 2-1.
Morgan scored his fifth goal in two games in front of 5,000 fans at Torrero Stadium.
Newcomer Kali Riel added what was the winner of the game in the 89th minute from the set piece Kelsey Turnbow. It was Riley’s first goal of the regular season.
“I’m very proud of how they behave, how they play, how they perform, and we want to support them further,” Wave assistant coach Rich Ghani said after the afternoon match.
San Diego recorded productive results early in the season and kept Chicago without points until Ava Cook’s goal in the 90th minute led to a one-goal lead.
In total, the Wave defense kept Chicago up to nine shots, only three – in the target.
Annie saw room for improvement.
“It was an unstable performance in the first half,” he said. “We’ve made a few small adjustments and I’m very happy with the mood and attitude of the players coming out in the second half.”

Morgan’s penalty kick was set up when Sofia Jacobson aggressively chased the ball in the second half when she committed a foul in the penalty area.
Attack Wave scored 19 shots.
Ryle, who scored the first goal in the club’s history against Angel City in the Challenge Cup, found herself alone in the penalty area on the projected net when the ball arrived from Turnbow.
“It was a beautiful scenery,” Ryle said. “I found myself wide open and put it down.”
Managing the ball with his chest, Ryl threw the ball into the right corner of the net to give the advantage in the 89th minute, “Wave” with a score of 2: 0.
Abby Dalkemper, who did not play in Sunday’s match, was injured last Saturday. It will be available for play next week.
The wave will head to Kentucky, where they will meet with Racing Louisville FC at 4:30 p.m. Pacific on Wednesday.
It starts with four away games before the club returns home on June 8 to Torrero Stadium against Portland Thornes.
