Vin Diesel remembers late friend and ‘Fast and Furious’ co-star Paul Walker on ninth anniversary of his death in car crash: ‘Love you and miss you’

Vin Diesel has paid tribute to his late friend and co-star Paul Walker on the ninth anniversary of the actor’s tragic death in a 2013 car crash.

The Fast and Furious actor, 55, posted a photo of himself with Walker, who was 40 at the time of the fatal car crash in Santa Clarita. California November 30, 2013.

The A-list action star captioned the snap of herself and Walker, who played Brian O’Conner in the film series, ‘Nine years… love you and miss you.’

The latest: Vin Diesel, 55, paid tribute to his late friend and co-star Paul Walker on the ninth anniversary of the actor’s tragic death in a 2013 car crash.

A week after Walker’s death, Diesel wrote in a Facebook post: “Pablo, I wish you could see the world right now… and the profound impact your full life had on him, on us… on me.”

Referring to Walker’s character in the film series, he said: “I will always love you, Brian, like the brother you were… on and off screen.”

He noted how he remained close to Walker’s family after his death.

“I thought they needed my strength, but I realized when I got there and broke down in front of his family that I needed theirs,” Diesel said. “His mother hugged me and said, ‘I’m so sorry… I said, ‘I’m sorry?’ Are you the mother who lost her son?… She said yes, but you lost your other half.’

Just over a month after Walker’s death in January 2014, Diesel took to Facebook to talk about how much he missed his friend.

“There were always moments of childish laughter… We have achieved so much by 2013… Ps The complexity of Brotherhood and the painful void… of its absence,” he said.

Diesel walked Walker’s daughter (and goddaughter) Meadow, 24, down the aisle when she married Louis Thornton-Allan last year.

In an Instagram post in November 2021, he said Walker advised him to stay in the delivery room as he prepared to give birth to daughter Hanya, now 14, with partner Paloma Jimenez, 39.

“I told you I was going to give birth and I didn’t know what to expect at the hospital I was heading to after work,” Diesel said. “I will never forget what you said to me. You said a lot of cool guys will tell you to wait outside the delivery room, but that’s not right. Go there, cut the umbilical cord, and it will be the best day of your life.’

Diesel noted that his daughter was a key member of Meadow’s marriage court when she married.

“The same angel that you helped me prepare for in the most beautiful way with your brotherly advice is the same angel that precious Meadow asked to be her maid of honor,” Diesel said. “How could I have known that on the set of Fast in 2008…but maybe you did somehow.”
