Woman beaten and pepper-sprayed after snatching puppy from her arms in broad daylight

The police are looking for a California dog catcher who attacked a woman outside the pet store she owns and then ran off with his maltipo puppy.

On Monday, while working at Planet Pet on Eastern Avenue, Rosa Munoz was tending to her daughter and her one-month-old dog.

The woman, who had visited the store several times before, entered, took off the mask and then put it back on, according to Munoz, who added that she clearly looked into the camera before sighing and putting the mask back on her face.

She then went straight to the cage containing Muñoz’s puppy, opened it and, ignoring her warnings not to remove the animals from the cages, grabbed Maltipa.

Munoz approached the unidentified suspect and repeated that the animals were not to be taken out of their cages before she began to run away with the dog.

“I tried to run after her, but I fell and broke my arm,” Munoz said Fox11. “I then got up to go outside to try and see the number plates of the car she was about to get into but the woman was waiting outside the shop looking at me.”

She then tried to explain that the puppy was not hers, that he was only six weeks old and suffering from diarrhea.

The suspect responded by spraying Munoz with pepper spray and punching her, all of which was caught on surveillance video.

A bystander watched as the woman punched Munoz, dragged her to the ground and refused to stop using pepper spray before fleeing with the dog.

Two men came to Muñoz’s aid, and as soon as she was able to regain her breath and speak, she called the police and her son.

Munoz has operated Pet Planet since 2001 and has never had a problem with any of his customers.

“All the people that come in here (to the pet store) come in all the time and I know them and they are my customers.

“Now, when a new person comes in, I just stand there and say, ‘What’s going to happen?’ I don’t know what to do, she said.

She will have to wear a cast for a month and need additional eye treatment.

The suspect ran north on Eastern Avenue toward Loveland Street, authorities said.

They believe the suspect is between 18 and 25 years old and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with red and black checkered pajama pants and has brown hair.

Munoz’s son, Jesse Robles, plans to help her at the store to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“I came right away and of course she was hurt. I was angry and now I have to sacrifice my job to come here and help her,” Robles said.
