A mum has opened up about her shock when she became pregnant with twins just four months after giving birth to her first child.

Erica Gutierrez Perez, a 29-year-old mother of five children from Californiadaughter Summer was born in 2017, before twin girls Arya and Hazel were born in 2021.

U TikTok video, she explained in the superimposed caption that after giving birth to three children, she didn’t want any more and she was “happy” with her brood.

However, just four months after the birth of the first twins, Erica was stunned to learn that more twins were on the way.

When asked if there were twins in her family, Erica said that both of her husband Alan’s parents had twin siblings

In an earlier TikTok clip, she says she was sitting in the clinic “letting it go” when doctors told her the news.

She said it would mean “taking care of a five-year-old and four children”.

In the comments section, she told viewers that she “cried for days” after hearing she was having twins again and that she was “freaking out for the first few months”.

When asked if there were twins in her family, Erica said that both of her husband Alan’s parents had twin brothers.

In another video, before giving birth to her second set of twins, Erica talks about some of her fears, including the possibility that the children might have Down syndrome or kidney problems.

Another fear that arose in the mother is to tell her own mother about her unplanned pregnancy.

Many commenters spoke out about the issue, with one person writing: “I had my son in June 2021 and I got pregnant three months later and I was scared to tell my mom.”

On September 5, 2022, Erica gave birth to her second set of twins, Celeste and Alan.

The girls were born two minutes apart by caesarean section.

In the video, Erica tells viewers, “While I’m glad they’re here, it’s not the same when you have babies early.

“Complications caused them for me at 29 weeks.”

Alana, the younger of the twins, had to undergo several surgeries and is in the neonatal intensive care unit before being reunited with her family four months later.

Erica’s recent TikToks show what family life looks like at home with five kids.

In one clip, she is seen wearing a sling so she can carry her babies on her chest while holding her little ones’ hands.

In another video, she details her morning routine, including brushing her hair, getting dressed and eating breakfast.

Many commentators applauded the mother-of-five’s strength.
