The National Weather Service has issued a gale warning for waters along the Monterey County coast. This is valid until 3pm on Sunday. Watch for dangerous beach and sea conditions this weekend with strong gusty winds along the coast and over the waters. Small vessel operators should remain in port or seek safe harbor. The affected areas are from Pigeon Point to Point Pinas and Point Pinos to Point Piedras Blancos. Strong winds will cause dangerous seas that can capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. The National Weather Service reports northwest winds 20 to 30 mph gusting to 45 mph and seas between 9 and 14 feet. The National Weather Service considers this a severe weather hazard. Boats must avoid these dangerous conditions. Stay in port, find a safe harbor, change course and/or secure the vessel in rough conditions.
