Flight records show that the United Airlines 777 descended from 2,200 feet to 775 feet above the ocean on Dec. 18 after takeoff from Maui.

A United Airlines jet plunged hundreds of feet shortly after taking off from a Hawaii airport on Dec. 18, flight data shows.

The 777 fell from 2,200 feet to 775 feet above sea level after taking off from Kahului Airport in Maui at 2:49 p.m., Flight Radar reported. It regained the lost altitude in under a minute.

The rest of the flight to San Francisco was uneventful, the site reported.

The flight crew voluntarily reported the incident to the Federal Aviation Administration after landing and underwent additional training, United Airlines told CNN.

The airline and FAA did not report any injuries, according to the network.

The plane took off during a storm in Hawaii, NBC News reported. It was not clear if the weather caused the incident, however.
