A Washington woman was attacked by a bear in her driveway

Chris Bushing of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife said he was among those who responded after being called for attacking a black bear. “She got out, let her dog out, went out the front door. Didn’t hear anything, didn’t see anything, and suddenly a bear came at her. She was able to fight off the bear. She got in the car and drove to the hospital. She didn’t do anything to to provoke it,” Bushing. Officials said the woman went to a nearby hospital in town before being sent to another hospital. “I talked to her, I also met her at the hospital before I went to the scene and she’s in good spirits ” Bushing said. Authorities said it was a female bear with cubs, and they fatally removed the bear. The cubs were sent to a rehabilitation facility. This all happened near a busy tourist area. “She went out, let the dog out, went out through the entrance. She didn’t hear anything, didn’t see anything, and suddenly a bear pounced on her. She was able to fight off the bear. She got into the car and went to the hospital. She didn’t do anything to provoke it,” Bushing said.

Officials said the woman went to a nearby hospital in the city before being sent to another hospital.

“I spoke to her, I also met her at the hospital before I went to the scene and [she was in] good vibes,” Bushing said.

Authorities said it was a female bear with cubs and they fatally removed the bear. The cubs were sent to a rehabilitation facility.

All this happened near a busy tourist area.
