Casual and North San Juan Fire Department volunteers told lawmakers that the man was taken out of the store at gunpoint and forced into the victim’s car, where the sheriff’s office reported that an armed man also boarded the car. They both drove in an unknown direction. Shortly after the deputies reached the store, dispatchers received a call that the car may have matched the victim and that he was driving east on North Bloomfield-Granitville Road, the sheriff’s office said. Minutes after that call, lawmakers learned that the victim had been taken to a safe home in the city of Washington after she was found at a waste disposal station. The sheriff’s office said deputies were talking to a woman who did not appear to be injured and refused any treatment. There they learned that she had been able to escape from a kidnapper, later identified as Charpentier, who had previously met a woman. Deputies also believe they found firearms used by Charpentier, the sheriff’s office said. A CodeRed warning sent to residents during emergencies has been issued in the city of Washington. Now there is a search for Charpentier. As he is considered dangerous, the deputies ask to call 911 if they notice him.

Passers-by and volunteers from the North San Juan Fire Department told lawmakers that the man was taken out of the store under the barrel of a gun and forced the victim to get into her car, where the sheriff’s office said the gunman also got into the car. Both drove in an unknown direction.
