African tech talent accelerators attract students, venture capital funding as Big Tech arrives • TechCrunch

There are technological giants Tech talent is increasingly sought after in Africa, where the number of developers reached 716,000 last year, up 3.8% from 2020, according to Google.

Microsoft and Amazon have been recruiting for the past six months disc which came with enticing offers, including relocating its US and European hubs, appealing to a small but growing pool of talent amid stiff competition from other tech giants like Google, as well as startups.

This demand for African developers is expected to continue, supporting the implications big resignation which has forced employers to look elsewhere for new talent, as the tech giants like to do GoogleOracle and Visa are expanding their operations in Africa.

However, with increasing demand, the number of new developers entering the market is disproportionately small, mainly because traditional educational institutions in most African countries are slowly revamping their courses to keep up with the demands of the labor market and the fast-paced world of technology.

On the other hand, the gap between supply and demand has unequivocally driven the launch of new developer schools and fueled the growth of existing ones in recent months, many of which are attracting the attention of global venture capitalists.
