After the whales are confused, it is recommended to close the crabs
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – California wildlife says two humpback whales have become entangled in fishing gear off the coast of central California in recent days.
They recommend suspending commercial Dungeness crab fishing to reduce the risk of new entanglements when whales reach the region during their annual north migration.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife said in a statement that on March 17 near Moss Beach, one confusion of tea in California commercial Dungeness crab outfit was confirmed.
Two days later a second whale was spotted behind a set of fishing gear in Monterey Bay.
They recommend stopping by to catch Dungeness crabs on April 8th. The closure will not affect recreational Dungeness crab fishing.
