An IRVINE man has been jailed for four months after being found guilty of violently assaulting his partner.

Jordan McIlraith faces three charges, including assaulting a woman at a property in Kilmarnock on May 9 this year.

During the brutal attack, the 29-year-old man grabbed the woman by the throat, pushed her against the wall several times, dragged her by her clothes across the room and hit her on the head.

He also grabbed her by the body and did not let go, injuring her.

A second charge alleged he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, shouting and swearing at the woman.

He also resisted, obstructed or obstructed three police officers in the performance of their duties by fighting and resisting arrest.

McIlraith was found guilty of all three charges at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and sentenced to four months in prison.
