Legendary comedian Andy Kaufman will be inducted into the lineup WWE Hall of Famer 2023 more than 40 years after his iconic feud with Jerry “The King” Lawler.

The comedian, who died in May 1984, is the latest celebrity will receive the prestigious award during Wrestlemania weekend next month in Inglewood, California.

He dubbed himself the Intergender World Champion, offering female wrestlers a $1,000 prize if they could kill him.

This gimmick eventually led to a feud with Jerry’s legendary pro-wrestler “King Lawler” in 1982.

It reached its absolute peak when Lawler, now 73, slammed Kaufman on Late Night with David Letterman in July of that year.

The iconic clip, in which Kaufman was wearing a harness, ended with the comedian swearing profanity and throwing coffee at Lawler.

Prior to this, the two men faced off at the Memphis wrestling circuit, where Lawler performed a piledriver on him, which is why he was wearing the neck brace mentioned above.

Whether or not the feud was hotly debated at the time before it eventually became known to everyone was “work” and that the two men were actually good friends.

The secret was closely guarded in the 1999 biopic Man on the Moon, in which Kaufman was played by Jim Carrey, as he revealed that the entire feud was staged.

Kaufman was an entertainer and entertainer who preferred to describe himself as a “singing and dancing man” rather than a comedian.

He made a name for himself working in small clubs during the 1970s, before he reached a wider audience in the mid-1970s, performing gags on the first season of Saturday Night Live.

From 1978 to 1983, Kaufman starred as Latka Gravis in the popular TV show Taxi.
