
At 59, I’m a bodybuilding legend – hard work got me to the top, but younger people use much more boring means
BODYBUILDING legend Rich Gaspari has revealed how the new generation of Hulks are using drugs to get their bodies.
The 59-year-old said that hard work got him to the podium three times as Mr. Olympia, but nowadays bodybuilders are turning to more boring methods.
Rich started out as a gym manager in California, but within a few years he would become one of the biggest names in bodybuilding.
He went on to win several national titles, second place in the Mr. Olympia three times in a row, and Arnold 1989 classic.
Speaking on the Mike O’Hearn Show, he said he was “criticized by the younger generation of bodybuilders” but he believes “drugs are replacing hard work”.
He continued to have a knack for what he called a “snowflake mentality.”


This comes after Rich recently blasted a gym goer for attempting a ‘stupid exercise’.
He took to Instagram to share amazing footage the epic – and almost fatal – failure of a young weightlifter.
The bodybuilder is still pumping iron and doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
He often shares calorie intake tips and tricks, best workouts and tips on his Instagram.
Rich also recalled in his Instagram post how one day in 1984 changed his life.
“I was working as the gym manager at Gold’s in Reseda, and since the gym was right next to the Weider office, they did a lot of photo shoots in the gym with a lot of the current champions.
“Well, one of those days, Flex magazine had a photo shoot with Corey Everson and Andreas Kaling, and he needed a shot in the background.”
The photo got him noticed by legend Joe Weider, and Rich started pitching for the Nationals.
