A REGION in Portugal has beaches so beautiful they have been compared to California in the US.

Along with the beautiful beaches, it is also one of the most affordable vacation spots in the country Europe.

In recent years Algarve has been called the “California of Europe” by tourism experts and locals alike.

Article on Travel + Rest said: “Obviously, California and the Algarve have similarities.”

VivEuropea company that helps people move to Portugal also compared the two, they said: “You will find plants and hills that are almost identical in both places.

“For now California relatively larger than Portugal as a country, they have a lot in common.”

These two places are compared due to their sunny weather conditions, sandy beaches and best surfing spots

The Algarve is easily accessible by landing at Faro Airportwhich is about 50 minutes drive from the best beaches in the region.

Head to Praia da Falesia for four miles of sandy shores, but if you want to surf, head to Praia da Rocha.

Vacationers can walk along most of the coastline dolphin watching or take to the water for deep sea fishing.

Across the sea, the city of Faro resembles the capital of the region America Golden State.

Because many of Faro’s buildings were designed to retain heat, they are very similar to those in Palm Springs, California.

Closer to home, there are many cities in the UK that compare favorably with cities abroad.

A traditional seaside town Skegness has also been compared to another American city for several years.

The local population called the town of Skegness “Skeg Vegas”. Lincolnshire there are slot machines and a lively nightlife with cabaret.

Meanwhile, a tiny town in Great Britain was compared to a village on the Italian Riviera because of the colorful buildings, the subtropical forest with China Lake and the incredible wildlife.
