The news is provided by the city of South Pasadena

On April 26, 2022, the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) declared a state of emergency with water shortages and adopted an emergency water conservation program for areas dependent on state water project supplies (SWP). The city of South Pasadena receives water from the MWD through other institutions, and is therefore indirectly affected by new restrictions on MWD watering.

However, in the current drought and in an effort to effectively manage water resources, the South Pasadena City Council is expected to announce a water shortage in Phase 2, which will limit outdoor watering to two days a week. At the upcoming June board meeting, as well as to further encourage community efforts to save water, the city is implementing an updated water saving program that will include discounts, programs and home appraisals.

We encourage residents to think about water-saving habits and measures, as water is one of our most valuable resources. Information on changing watering restrictions and conservation programs will be updated on City site.
