COVID: CDC director Rachel Walensky tests positive for coronavirus, health officials say

WASHINGTON – Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday evening.

Walensky is up to date on his vaccines and is experiencing mild symptoms, according to a CDC release.

In accordance with CDC guidelines, health officials said Walensky is in isolation at home and will be virtually participating in scheduled meetings.

Senior CDC staff and close contacts have been informed of her positive test and are taking appropriate measures to monitor their health, the release said.
