Gavin DeGraw had to pull out of an appearance for the Boys & Girls Club at the last minute – his team says he was sick as a dog, but he’s already planning to get better.

Sources connected to the fundraiser tell TMZ … Gavin was booked to perform at last weekend’s 2022 Chrysalis Ball “Enchanted Masquerade” for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County, Texas.

The club serves more than 5,000 children, and Gavin’s performance was the first major in-person event they have planned since shutting down due to COVID. That’s why the organizers were so outraged when Gavin had to cancel the event on the very day of the event.

Our sources say the singer’s team told the Boys & Girls Club that Gavin is so sick he needs to be hospitalized … and won’t be able to make it to the event.

We’re told the event organizers have already spent $20K on production costs, and they ended up using the band originally booked for their after party to fill in for Gavin.

It is not yet clear what caused Gavin’s illness – our sources say the performance fee will be refunded, but the club will not refund production or rider costs.

Understandably, there were some disappointed people at the fundraiser.

DeGraw’s team says he’s made a full recovery since then, and while he regrets canceling…he hopes to be back and supporting the organization soon.
