Gunman flees on bicycle after shooting, wounding man in Aqueduct near SR-94

A man was shot in an aqueduct near a freeway early Wednesday morning and the suspected shooter took off on a bicycle, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The shooting happened around 3:50 a.m. near the westbound 94 Freeway near the Home Avenue exit. CHP Officer Jesse Mathias said someone reported hearing gunshots.

San Diego Police responded to the scene and found the victim, a 35-year-old man, with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Mathias said.

San Diego police have contacted the CHP, which is investigating.

The shooter was a thin man who was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and riding a yellow bicycle on Home Avenue, Mathias said.

Witnesses or informants with information about the shooting are asked to call the CHP Special Investigations Unit during business hours at (858) 293-6000.
