The shooting happened last Monday and that was it third to hit Golden State in as many days – leaving members of a small coastal community near San Francisco trying to make sense of the tragedy.

Speaking to a new Bay Area outlet, Wagstaffe finally shed some light on Zhao’s motive for attacking his employer’s California Terra Garden and neighboring Concord Farms two days after his trial in Redwood City.

The discovery took place when the investigators had already speculated about the shooting may be the result workplace disputes, with all eight victims being “intentionally targeted”. It also comes as the other half of one of Zhao’s slain men came forward on Tuesday to confirm that her lover was among the dead.

“I’m still scared and trying to understand what happened,” the first witness told CNN Tuesday of how he ran to a shelter with other farm workers when the suspect opened fire, killing four of his colleagues. Then he added: “I don’t understand.”

The witness went on to tell the paper that he had worked with Zhao for about six years at the farm before the tragedy – a claim corroborated by an employee who spoke to the ABC, who said Zhao had worked at the farm for somewhere between “five and six”. years as a forklift driver.

Moreover, after the first part of the massacre, the witness said, Zhao fled the scene in a forklift, driving two miles to the mountain mushroom farms to claim three more lives.

The shooting happened last Monday and was the third to hit the Golden State in as many days. Four of the victims were shot at Concord Farms, and three were shot at Mountain Mushroom Farms two miles away.

Still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy, the survivor said he thought Zhao was “friendly” and a “good guy” and didn’t know “what his problem was with these guys,” referring to the victims.

He added that at first he tried to hide when the first shots rang out, he was joined by several frightened fellow workers on the farm, and there are about two dozen people working in total.

Heartbreakingly, he said he saw one of the victims allegedly shot by Zhao outside the greenhouse, but when he saw how much blood was flowing, he realized “it was too late.”

Investigators later found another victim inside the greenhouse, the witness said, adding that both victims, like the suspect, were Chinese.

The source said that after the shooting stopped, he saw the suspect drive away in a forklift. He asked not to be named in connection with the investigation.

On Tuesday, cops confirmed there were statements from witnesses and those who knew Zhao suggesting he may have been disaffected –
