How to see a Sunday lunar eclipse in Northern California

Read Time:1 Minute, 22 Second

There will be a lunar eclipse this weekend and it may be seen by people across Northern California. Meteorologist Dirk Verdorn explained that when the Earth moves around the Sun, it casts a shadow into space. Sometimes a moon passes through this shadow, making a lunar eclipse. On the night of Sunday, May 15, the moon will plunge into the darkest part of the earth’s shadow to create a total lunar eclipse, Verdorn said. Usually the moon turns orange and sometimes horribly blood red when passing through the shadow of the earth. This makes the spectacle exciting. Viewing the event should be quite convenient as the total eclipse will start at 20:29 and last until 21:53 Hopefully the weather will be conducive to keeping the sky clear so everyone can enjoy the event.
