Renner took to social media to chronicle his recovery — which he potentially can lasts for years – since he survived the terrible accident on January 1.
Last month, Renner said he was doing “whatever it takes” for his recovery, in a video of him improving his leg strength with a Technogym bike. He focused on his left leg as he sat on the chair and pedaled, using his hand to help him move.
Renner said he prioritized his “mental recovery” as he curled up by the fire and opened “The Book of Awakening,” a “spiritual diary” written by philosopher, poet and cancer survivor Mark Nepo.
At the time of the accident, Renner was using his snowplow to remove his nephew’s car from the driveway of his residence near Reno. Nevada, after he got stuck in the snow. However, after being towed, his snowplow began to slide down the street, causing the actor to jump out of the cab.
After he got out of the vehicle, Renner realized he could potentially hit his nephew, who was with him at the time of the incident. The “Mayor of Kingstown” star then tried to get back into the snow plow to get it out of the way, but in the process it was swept under the left side track and run over.
Renner was crushed by the car and was rushed to the hospital suffering from breathing difficulties and various other injuries.
A Washoe County Sheriff’s report found the snowplow may have had various mechanical problems during the incident.
The performer underwent several medical procedures during his recovery at the hospital and often expressed his gratitude to his medical team on his Instagram account.
