Jurors say it took them less than 20 minutes to find Paltrow not guilty

A juror who participated in a civil trial against a Ski disaster 2016 featuring Gwyneth Paltrow said “it took us less than 20 minutes to say Gwyneth is not guilty.”

Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, sued Paltrow, an Oscar-winning actor and entrepreneurdue to injuries he sustained when they collided at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah more than seven years ago.

Jury trial on Thursday Paltrow was found not responsible and also entered judgment in her favor in her counterclaim against Sanderson.

Sam Imrie, a member of the eight-member jury, said they quickly agreed that Paltrow was not guilty, but deliberated for about two and a half hours to get through the nine questions on the verdict form.

“It was really exciting to see that we were all on the same page,” Imrie Alisin Camerota told CNN on Friday.

Paltrow testified during the trial that it was Sanderson who skied into her back as she was coming down the slope. Although the jury agreed that Paltrow was not responsible, Imrie said it was difficult to say that Sanderson was guilty because “it just seems like an accident.”

Imri said she found it Paltrow’s testimony trustworthy. Expert witness Dr. Irving Sher really “brought it home” for her, Imrie said, when he testified that Paltrow’s version of events “was the most likely.”

Paltrow did not speak to reporters after the trial, but released a statement through her attorneys.

“I felt that my integrity was compromised by my tacit agreement to the false statement,” Paltrow said in a statement. “I am pleased with the outcome and appreciate all the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury and thank them for their consideration in this case.”
