
Katy Perry shares throwback snap and praises American Idol ahead of its 21st anniversary
Katy Perry looked a little sentimental and nostalgic when she chose to praise American Idol is in its 21st season.
As she approaches her 21st year singing on the reality show, the pop superstar, who is one of three celebrity judges, took to her Instagram page to share a photo of herself as a 21-year-old in 2005.
“#idol is celebrating her 21st birthday this year,” she began in the caption of a photo of herself standing in front of a rack of clothes in a store or wardrobe.
Santa Barbara, California the native can be seen looking straight into the camera wearing a white sweater with fringe hanging from each of the short sleeves, her dark locks pulled back from her face and a big confident smile on her face.
The fireworks star has revealed how her 21st birthday was marred by a couple of accidents which left her injured.

“When I turned 21, I rented a roller rink and McDonald’s ‘serviced’ it with 2 kegs in the middle of the rink… and two friends broke bones but we had a lot of fun (so I was told I just turned 21), she said about her birthday.
She ended the post by moving on to promoting the new season of Idol and asking fans to share their experiences from their momentous 21st birthday.
“Anyway watch #idol rn and let me know what YOU did for your 21st (what do you remember) in the comments.
And there was no shortage of people responding to her request on Instagram.
Many people kept it simple and shared comments like, “My friend drove me to a bar on the Indiana University campus!” and “Celebrating 21 Tomorrow in Vegas.”
There was even one woman who had no choice but to stay home and stay safe, writing: “Celebrate.”[d] at home in a pandemic,” in reference to COVID-19.
But there were others who had monumental experiences, such as meeting a long-lost family member.
“When I turned 21, like two days before, I’ve always believed that thoughts become reality, so I always imagined meeting my biological mother, and I think she called me on my birthday and we united,” shared a grateful woman. .

Many commentators’ 21st birthday was associated with the first time alcohol was legal in the US.
“I was in the hospital, my gall bladder was removed,” the woman said. “The nurses tried to help me celebrate by joking that they were going to change my bag of IV fluid to vodka because they are both clear liquids and they are the same thing.”
One young man wrote: “I flew to LA – had lunch at Weho, shopped for the day, had dinner in Los Feliz… then got a f**ked face in Hollywood and had UberEats deliver McDonald’s before I passed out watching Golden Girls at 2 a.m.’
And finally, there were people who had already taken their first legal sips of alcohol in countries where the drinking age is 18-19.
“I celebrated with my college business professors in a pub in London while studying abroad, you know where it’s legal to drink at 18,” one person shared, while others said they had their first drink in Canada at 19.

American Idol officially turns 21 on June 11, the day it premiered on Fox in 2002.
It went on to air for 15 seasons on the network before it was canceled, with the finale airing on April 7, 2016.
After a two-year hiatus, the reality competition series will get a new lease on life on ABC, where it will run for another five seasons.
Perry along with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie have have served as judges since the show’s revival on ABC.
Season 21 of the reality singing competition will premiere on February 19 with the same three judges on the panel and Ryan Seacrest again as host.
Earlier on Sunday, Perry went back into American Idol Instagram promo mode and shared a series of snaps of herself wearing a plaid off-the-shoulder dress with her ravens draped across her chest and shoulder.
“A good girl has gone CAGE (or at least back to prismatic vibes) on #americanidol tonight at 8pm,” she wrote.
