Kelis got into a dangerous situation in snowy weather California last weekend, she was taking her children in a car that nearly went off a cliff.

On Sunday, the 43-year-old musician took to Instagram with a clip in which she surveyed the damage after her car was left over a cliff amid the inclement weather on a wintry day.

“My truck’s stuck … it’s kind of stuck,” said the Milkshake frontman, whose husband is Mike Mora died of stomach cancer last year at the age of 37said in a post on Instagram.

She captioned the clip on social media: “I was planning to take the kids to the snow, but we almost fell off a cliff!” So make the best of what you got and always be prepared lol #bigbear #blizzard #snowstorm #rescue #fashion #grateful.’

She showed how the vehicle leaned against a cliff in the middle of the snowy conditions and how the tires were caked with snow.

The tow cable was attached to the end of the downed vehicle.

The singer, whose full name is Kelis Rogers-Moreau, said: “Thank God the tow truck actually made it – we were out for a while.”

The Grammy-nominated artist, who was decked out in heavy snowboarding gear with the rest of her family, said she was dressed in “ridiculous … rescue style” and “wearing layers to keep warm”.

In addition to the unprecedented amount of snow that fell on the West Coast, Kelis said conditions were made even more dangerous by the dark conditions.

“Thank God I have a light on because it’s pitch black here,” she said. “Silver boots [for] slight reflective action. It could be worse.”

One user responded to her message: “Kellis, I’m glad you and your family are safe.” And now stay at home away from this snow!

Another said: “Truck stuck, girl looks like you almost died there.”

One user said: “Oh my…. Not that you almost fell off a cliff in style…that’s not even funny, but I’m glad you’re smiling and making light of a scary situation. I hope the kids aren’t too shocked. I would be a nervous wreck.’

Kelis did not specify who was with her in the terrible incident, she is a mother of three children: 13-year-old son Knight with ex-husband Nas, seven-year-old son Shepherd and two-year-old daughter.
