I recently attended an event at the Let It Grow plant shop and was delighted to come across a stand for Nova Saige tea who had a sign advertising their Churro Latte Iced Tea. I LOVE cinnamon and sugar on anything and on such a warm day this sounded like perfection – and I can assure you it really is. With such a unique taste and many more listed on the company social networks I decided on behalf of Fresno tea lovers that I just had to reach out to the owner, Courtney, to learn more and help more of you lovely readers discover Nova Saige’s wonderful tea blends.
FresYes: Tell us a little about yourself, are you from the Fresno area and what led you to become a tea company owner?
Courtney: My name is Courtney and I am a Fresno native. I first fell in love with the tea party when I moved to Chicago a few years ago. I met my now husband (Tijuan) and our first date was a tea tasting at Adagio Tea. Back in 2020, we were watching Shark Tank and the woman who owns Teaspressa was pitching her business and I thought, “Wow! I’d love to do that!” So I did some research on how to start a home food business and tested different mixes. A couple of months later we were official!
FresYes: How did you come up with the name Nova Saige?
Courtney: Nova (5) is my first daughter and Nala Sage (2) is my second. I named the business after them. And yes, they both drink tea! Their favorites are hibiscus with lime and vanilla rooibos.
FresYes: What do you think is special that sets your tea and business apart from others?
Courtney: Our teas are hand-blended and pre-measured. Instead of putting the mixes in a bag, there are individual packs that you use for a single drink. We like each drink to taste the same (consistency is important), so we measure ingredients by the ¼ teaspoon! It’s definitely a labor of love.
FresYes: What are some of your most popular teas? And your personal favorites?
Courtney: We have the most popular tea Vocal Biblelemonade elixir of chamomile and mint with notes of peach and ginger. Another popular tea Churro Latte, which contains cinnamon, South African rooibos and Assam black tea. It’s delicious!
I have to say my favorite Down 2 Mars, our herbal coffee blend. No matter how delicious it is, my body does not tolerate coffee at all. Despite thecaffeine and acidity, I had to quit drinking it a few years ago, but I finally perfected our herbal coffee blend after a YEAR of trial and error, and I love making it into a mocha!
FresYes: How can people buy from you?
Courtney: You can buy it on our website at the address novasaigetea.com. The Fall Tea Line Discontinues September 19th!
FresYes: What’s in store for Nova Saige? What are your hopes for the future?
Courtney: At the moment we are working from home, but we would love to know what our own tea room will look like in the future!
FresYes: Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers that I may not have asked?
Courtney: My husband and I love our little business and look forward to enjoying tea made simply and deliciously!
In addition to ordering Nova Saige tea online, you can also follow the business Instagram to keep up to date with upcoming pop-up events where you too can enjoy tea made by the owners!
