Maps show how gas prices in CA compare to the US in February

Don’t expect gas prices to take a dip anytime soon.

A “trend of small increases” in national gas prices will likely occur this week, Andrew Gross, an American Automobile Association spokesperson, stated in a news release on Feb. 16.

The national average for regular fuel is $3.40 per gallon, as of Feb. 21 — holding steady from last week’s average of $3.41. That said, California’s prices are much higher.

The current average for regular fuel in California is $4.74. This is up roughly 9 cents from last week’s average of $4.65. The cost could rise above $5 a gallon by March due to several factors, including demand, experts previously told The Bee.

In California, Mono County, located east of the Sierra Nevada has the highest average for regular price at $5.75 per gallon.

Yuba County has the lowest at $4.37 a gallon. Sacramento County is at $4.58.
