New House of the Dragon Scene Introduces Older Rhaenyra (and Baby)

Read Time:1 Minute, 8 Second

A preview of HBO’s House of the Dragon Episode 6, which was filmed after Sunday’s episode can be confusing, but the new clip, which shows an extended look at an older Rhaenyra, is quite clear. Renira is going through everything but not easily after the birth of a boy, and her husband does not make things any easier.

Clip shared HBO on Tuesday gives a more extended look at Rhaenyra played by Emma D’Arcy, who has taken over as a younger actor Millie Alcock now that the Game of Thrones prequel jumps forward about 10 years. The clip also features an aged version of Rhaenyra’s husband, Laenor Velarion, son of Lord Corlys Velarion. John McMillan plays the husband now.

“Did it hurt terribly?” Renira’s husband asks a question about the birth, a question that immediately elicits death stares from all mothers. She is unsympathetic when he shares his own experience of pain, noting that he was once pierced through the shoulder with a spear. Later, Rhaenyro is seen wincing in discomfort as he carries the newborn into a room filled with people, presumably to meet former best queen Alicent. Can’t someone just let the new mom have a good nap?

Episode 6 of House of the Dragon will air on September 25th on HBO Max. Meanwhile, catch up with episode 5 here.
