Officials say Cheng, 52, was killed while trying to stop an armed man who opened fire at Geneva’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Five more people were injured in the shooting … and police say that if Cheng did not take action, there would be “many extra casualties.”
Stanton – who grew up in California before joining the NFL in 2018 – paid tribute to Chen on Twitter a few minutes ago … after realizing that Chen was the man who helped him with regular surveys for many years.
“I just learned that the man killed yesterday in Laguna Woods was my primary care physician, Dr. John Cheng,” Stanton said.
“An absolute hero,” Stanton added. “He attacked an armed man and helped save so many people in this church. I just wanted his name to be known. “
