Read Time:55 Second

There was good news for the North Ayrshire Food Bank last week – they confirmed they have received funding which will allow them to hire a baker.

The charity will now be able to offer a ‘community bakery’ service and is currently in the midst of a recruitment process – applications for the role close on Friday 14 October.

The food bank has been working as fast as possible to ensure the role is filled quickly, with applications only opening on 12 October.

The job description said: “The successful candidate will oversee the production of a range of products for the Ardrossan South Larder project, the recruitment and training of apprentices/volunteers, the establishment of processes and policies for the safe operation of the bakery, the creation of a workspace with the necessary equipment.

“Once established, Community Bakery will seek to build capacity to tender for contracts.”

The North Ayrshire Foodbank is based at the Church of the Nazarene in Ardrossan and is open every midweek day.
