Most Norwalk voters will not receive Spanish translations of city council candidate statements in the Nov. 8 election. Translations were not published on sample ballots for Norwalk voters.

“It was my mistake,” City Clerk Teresa Devoy said. “Nothing can be done. We are looking for an alternative.”

Four of the five candidates are Tony Ayala. Luis Navas, Petra Peña and Jennifer Perez are the affected contenders for the two council seats. Their $1,100 fee will be refunded, Devoy said. They also paid for the English version.

Candidate Dora Sandoval did not pay to have her candidate statement translated into Spanish.

Those who receive ballots entirely in Spanish will not be affected by the error, Devoy said. Their entire ballot will still be in Spanish, she added.
