Martin Shkreli is a free man (yes) – the guy was released from prison … and relatively early, given the length of his initial sentence.
The former pharmaceutical manager and hedge fund manager – who was convicted of securities fraud back in 2017 – was removed from FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania on Wednesday … and will now be jailed through the Bureau of Prisons. NY Reidential Reentry Management Office.
He was originally sentenced to 7 years in jail after pleading guilty to 3 of the 8 federal charges relating to his management of the pharmaceutical company Retrophin.
Shkreli hurried to celebrate – he posted a photo of himself on Facebook with the caption: “Getting out of a real prison is easier than getting out of prison on Twitter.”
It seems that he is in prison clothes – a completely gray tracksuit – and maybe he even rode some kind of rando. Dude by name Edmund Sullivan posted photos from MS, writing … “Picked up this guy by hitchhiking. He says he’s famous.” Maybe it’s a joke, who knows?
Shkreli’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, says his client will now live halfway. Brafman adds that his client has completed various programs while behind bars to facilitate his early release from prison. According to him, Shkreli will not comment yet.
You remember MS actually asked be released early during the pandemic – but was beaten at the time. Who knew … all he had to do was wait a couple of years and the wish came true.
