The man arrived at the police station on Monday night with the woman. He was shot in the back and was taken by helicopter to Modesto Hospital for treatment.

Officers determined that the shooting took place about a mile in a residential complex near Determine Drive and Secretariat Drive.

Detectives found several shell casings and a pistol at the scene.

Several bullets hit the apartment, but police said no one inside was injured.

Detectives believe the shooting could have taken place during an incident involving illegal drugs.

Police are asking the prosecutor’s office to charge the shot man with shooting at a house and being a criminal in possession of a firearm.

At the moment it is considered stable.

Atwater police are still looking for another suspect.
