Police: Vandal slashes hundreds of tires in Alameda, California

California police say a 25-year-old man is accused of slashing hundreds of tires in Alameda in an overnight vandalism spree.

California police said more than 100 Alameda residents woke up to find their car tires slashed overnight.

The accused is a 25-year-old man cutting hundreds of tires in the San Francisco Bay Area city late Friday, Sept. 30, Alameda police said in a news release.

Security video helped police catch the man, whose name has not been released, police said.

“This went crazy“, Bakhta resident Tesfu told KRON. “We were supposed to be at work early in the morning, but we couldn’t do it.”

This was reported to KNTV by residents the tires were slashed in several apartment parking lots and on neighborhood streets in west Alameda.

Police are asking anyone whose vehicles were broken into between 8.30pm and 11.30pm on September 30 to contact jgreen@alamedaca.gov with information.

Alameda is a city of 78,000 people on an island west of Oakland.
