SOFTBALL TOP 10

1. Los Alamitos (24-7): The Griffins are the new No. 1-ranked team in the Press Telegram area after making it to the CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship game against Roosevelt on Saturday, May 21 at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine at 6:30 p.m. Los Alamitos knocked off undefeated Oaks Christian 4-0 to reach their first championship game since 2017.

2. Millikan (22-10): The Rams jump up to No. 2 after making it to the Division 2 championship game against Mission Viejo on Friday, May 20 at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine at 6:30 p.m. In a two-day span, Millikan had a 7-5 comeback win at South Hills in the quarterfinals and a 7-2 win at Corona Centennial in the semifinals. Millikan has two aces, sophomore pitcher Ava Schaffel and junior pitcher Victoria Byrum, who have both been clutch in the postseason.

3. Gahr (23-9): The Gladiators went 3-1 in the postseason but lost 3-0 to D1 finalist Roosevelt in the semifinals of the Division 1 playoffs. Gahr won the San Gabriel Valley League title and earned a bid to the CIF SoCal Regional Championships, which begin May 31.

4. La Mirada (22-7): The Matadores lost 3-0 to D1 finalist Roosevelt in the second round of the Division 1 playoffs, which ended their 17-game winning streak. La Mirada won the Suburban League title.

5. Warren (23-5): The Bears went 2-1 in the postseason but lost a heartbreaker, 2-1, at home against Corona Centennial in the Division 2 quarterfinals. Warren finished second in the San Gabriel Valley League behind No. 3 Gahr.

6. St. Anthony (16-10): The Saints went 3-1 in the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs but lost 9-1 at Tesoro in the semifinals. St. Anthony won the Del Rey League title and earned a bid to the CIF SoCal Regional Championships, which begin May 31.

7. Norwalk (20-8): The Lancers went 2-1 in the postseason, losing a heartbreaker, 4-3, at El Toro in the CIF-SS Division 5 quarterfinals. Norwalk finished second to No. 3 ranked La Mirada in the Suburban League.

8. Cerritos (14-3): The Dons won the 605 League title but lost 4-2 to Heritage in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs. Senior shortstop Jadyn Nielsen, an All-Area-caliber player, batted .633 with 20 steals during the regular season.
