Rally of activists for reproductive rights on Lake Merritt – with powerful signs on the tow

Read Time:1 Minute, 19 Second

On Saturday afternoon, about 200 people organized on Lake Merritt to show their support for reproductive rights and condemn Rowe’s idea against Wade, which could be overturned.

Behind the beautiful blue sky and the still brackish water there was an afternoon rally called “Forbid our bodies“- Planned Parenthood – was held yesterday in solidarity with abortion activists and those who believe the repeal of Rowe v. Wade would be catastrophic for the country. Support for reproductive rights; similar manifestations have been observed in other major cities, such like Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.

During the long rally, Nancy Skinner, a member of the California Senate representing East Bay District 9, addressed the crowds with courage. In a snippet uploaded to Twitter, you can hear Skinner pointing to a sign in the audience before reading it: “Men make laws about the female body.”

And Skinner’s answer was simple: “Who the hell thought it was a good idea?” Well … it makes sense.

If you haven’t been to Lake Merritt on a Saturday afternoon to catch noisy events and see incredibly relevant signs, here are some of our favorite moments uploaded to social media.
