The California Department of Public Health and OptumServe are upgrading testing facilities nationwide to provide both testing and treatment for individuals who test positive and are eligible for COVID-19 treatment.

Test for treatment The sites allow individuals to be screened, browsed by a provider and get a prescription for antiviral pills. This will improve access to treatment from COVID-19 for uninsured California residents, especially in the communities most affected by the pandemic, which is the basis for California SMARTER PLAN.

California is launching 146 OptumServe Test treatment sites across the state over the next few weeks. A Locator card treatment test available to California residents to easily see where they can access these services.

“We are working to ensure that California residents with COVID-19 symptoms have access to prompt testing and immediate treatment, regardless of insurance coverage,” said CDPH Director and Public Health Officer Dr. Thomas Aragon. “Our goal is to help Californians recover when they become ill with COVID-19, and provide high-risk patients with access to treatment that may prevent them from being admitted to the hospital.”

The expansion of California Test for treatment The sites are in line with the federal government’s Test to Treat initiative National Preparedness Plan for COVID-19. Examination and treatment is carried out at Location of OptumServe designed for people without insurance. The sites will offer medical services on television and provide antiviral pills, paxlovid or molnupivir or prescriptions to eligible patients. Services will be free.
