Seaside honored Nicholas (Nick) Borges as its new police chief on Tuesday. A promotional swearing-in ceremony was held at City Hall on Tuesday evening. Borges was selected as the city’s police chief in August 2022 after a highly competitive selection and hiring process. He was promoted after serving as acting police chief for a year following the retirement of Chief Abdul Pridgen in August 2021. Borges is a native of Monterey and has been with the Seaside Police Department since 2003. He started as a patrol officer and worked his way up the ranks over the past 19 years. Borges is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Quantico and holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership from California Coast University.
