Elk Grove High School investigates swearing against LGBTQ found in bathroom
Elk Grove High School is under investigation after an insult against LGBTQ was found on the bathroom walls, and photos of her were circulated among students on social media. Graffiti was found and “immediately removed” at Sheldon High School on Thursday, the Elk Grove United School District told KCRA 3 in a statement. Representatives of the school said that an investigation is underway and that “appropriate measures will be taken.” KCRA 3 received a photo of an insult that threatened to harm members of the LGBTQ community. From this photo, we know that it was shared by at least three users in their Instagram stories. The school also said the photo was “passed on to some students electronically.” The Elk Grove United School District said in a statement that the safety of their students and staff is a top priority. A student in the county is subjected to unlawful discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying by any student, employee, or other person in or out of the county. As this incident is being investigated, the county prohibits retaliation against any person who files a complaint, or any participant or witness in the grievance process. “Our district and schools follow a policy of non-discrimination, and in accordance with our policy, any student who feels that he or she or another student in the county is unlawfully discriminated against, harassed, intimidated or bullied by any student, employee or other person in or out of the county should immediately notify school staff or administrators, such as the principal or deputy principal, so that the problem can be investigated and resolved.
As this incident is being investigated, the county prohibits retaliation against any person who files a complaint, or any participant or witness in the complaint process. Each complaint will be fully investigated in a way that respects the privacy of all stakeholders, and appropriate measures will be taken to eliminate discrimination, harassment, intimidation or bullying. ”
