The annual Derby Down returns to Fresna Fairgrounds
The event, organized by the La Feliz guild, returned after two years of rest due to the pandemic.
People enjoyed live music, southern cuisine and mint juleps while waiting for the Kentucky derby.
Participants were able to bet on the race, and people also dressed participants in chic hats and dresses.
In addition to the celebration, the event aimed to raise money for Valley Children’s Hospital.
“This community will save lives – you are leaving this event just knowing that you have changed the lives of children across our valley,” said Derby Down Chair Joanna Felger.
It was attended by more than 800 people. One such person was our own Amanda Aguilar, who worked as a presenter.
