A man remains in the hospital Saturday after the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said he led deputies on a chase from Highway 99 to an East Sacramento neighborhood where he crashed into two homes.

Shortly before 4 p.m., deputies spotted a vehicle traveling north on Highway 99 near Calvin Road that matched the description of the vehicle deputies were looking for, according to authorities. A spokesman for the office said deputies recognized the driver, noting they believe the man was involved in a pursuit earlier in the week and had at least one felony warrant.

The sheriff’s office said a chase ensued that reached speeds of up to 115 mph, and two vehicles were struck by the suspect as he exited the freeway. The chase ended, officials said, when the driver crashed into two homes.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital, authorities said. No other injuries were reported.

A spokesman for the office said the suspect will be charged after he is released from the hospital.
