The price of a home in California makes people question everything
There are views worth a million bucks. And then there are other kinds, like this one in Carpinteria, California, which costs $109 million.
Literally.
A property with three bedrooms and four bathrooms which sits on more than 4 acres of premier “oceanfront beauty,” has landed on the real estate market in the A-list celebrity enclave, the Compass listing notes. While the 2,514-square-foot residence is nothing to sneeze at, the sheer size of the property and potential for mansion construction is the real draw.
“This exquisite property includes zoning for stables for up to nine horses, a private trail, a horse-friendly beach, a yacht dock and the opportunity for abundant ocean recreation,” the listing says.
“This is the last major beach estate on the Southern California coast, located directly on the famed Loon Point surf spot, beckoning for an extraordinary lifestyle of sand, sea and sun. Enter a world of possibilities.”
Home features include:
-
Wooden accents
-
Large windows
-
Separate garage
Another reason for the high price is its location in a prestigious enclave of A-list celebrities, next to Kevin Costner’s home. According to the press service, the property belongs to the grandson of oil magnate Arthur A. Cameron, Arthur A. Cameron III.
“Both my grandfather and my father had the keenest eye for great one-of-a-kind, truly exceptional properties anywhere in the world, none of which have quite the idyllic magic that this property holds,” said Arthur A. in a statement by Cameron III. “This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime large piece of beautiful coastal land with unmatched offerings and opportunities on the serene Pacific Ocean and beyond, an unparalleled place to grow and live.”
The estate was featured on Sunday Night Zillow, a Twitter segment hosted by Bloomberg reporter Steven Dennis, thanks to its outrageous price.
And people were surprised.
“Just expect a little more than $109M. Like less pictures of horses on the beach and more of the house you want me to pay $109 million for,” one person tweeted.
“It’s a nice house, but not for $109,000,000d” said another. “I can think of what you could buy for that much money, maybe 109 really nice houses.”
“1 – hmm what? (Price)”, someone noted.
“Scroll down to the walking points section and take ‘oceanfront’ with a pinch of salt,” one person said. “It has a cut that stretches to the ocean. Most of it is on land, and there are other places on the ocean that are expensive but closer to Earth.’
“As someone who owns 5 acres and the horse itself, I’d like to know how anyone thinks they cram 9 horses + ‘trails’ into that lot,” another tweeted.
“Does it come with horses?” someone asked.
Carpinteria is about 10 miles east of Santa Barbara.
