Updates on human resources regarding California AB5 Independent Contractors Act, the extension of the California Family Rights Act and the upcoming CalSavers Retirement Deadline are among the topics of this week’s free webinar hosted by the Small Business Development Center at CSU Bakersfield.

“Managing Small Business Outside the Pandemic” will take place online from noon to 1pm on Wednesday, according to an SBDC press release.

SBDC presenter and director Kelly Birden will begin the webinar with updates on the remaining available government pandemic programs and small business recovery opportunities.

Celesta Young Ramos, CEO of the Center for Restaurant Success and an experienced owner, manager and consultant of restaurants and other businesses, will join Birden. Young Ramos will talk about a variety of human resource issues, including: updated California Independent Contractors legislation, Assembly Bill 5; The CalSavers retirement plan is approaching the June deadline for employer registration; expanding the California Family Rights Act; and elements of the new Wage Criminalization Act.

Young Ramos recently joined SBDC as a consultant and provides services to business clients in the field of human resources.
