For the first time in three years, people will be able to physically taste dishes from eateries in downtown Long Beach during a popular business promotion event.
Taste Downtown will return in person next week.
The Downtown Long Beach Alliance, which sponsors the popular event, announced its return on Monday, May 16th. The first Taste of Downtown will take place in the East Village from 6 to 10 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, May 25-26, and two more are scheduled for the end of this summer.
The DLBA has canceled personal tasting events over the past two years due to a coronavirus pandemic. Instead, they sponsored Zoom events featuring restaurants, bars and businesses once a month.
During the free food festival, people can try small portions of food from this area for a different number of tasting tickets, which cost $ 1 each. They can be purchased online and at the event.
Live music will also be performed on stage in the East Village during the event.
Taste next week is sponsored by The Auld Dubliner, George’s Greek Café, Jersey Mike’s, Fonda Tobala’s Rosemallows and Padre. As of Monday, 17 restaurants have signed up to participate.
Michael Berman, DLBA’s director of communications, said the Taste of Downtown events are scheduled for June 29 and 30 between Pine Avenue and the waterfront, and August 24 and 25 on the waterfront.
