Sacramento State officials confirmed Tuesday that a fourth sexual assault has been reported since September, and it is not known if it is related to previous attacks. Crime logs show that the attack was reported on Friday, but it happened on campus later in the evening on September 18. The case has also been turned over to the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office. There is no arrest in this case. KCRA 3 asked if this new attack was connected to “Zane,” the alias of a man believed to be connected to two other sexual assaults. A Sac State spokesperson said in an email, “Our police department is investigating the incident reported on October 21st, as well as previously reported incidents.” The University Police Department shared a picture of a man in his 20s with brown hair and brown eyes, about 6 feet tall and 175 pounds. Police said the man’s name is “Zane.” On Sept. 23, campus police received a report of sexual assault off campus. The department said another attack occurred on campus on Oct. 5. In both attacks, the man identified himself to the victims as a Sac State student, but police learned he was not currently registered but could use the facilities. Police said he may be associated with San Jose State University and is cooperating with the university’s police department. In a third sexual assault unrelated to “Zane,” a man approached a student outside the library, asked for a hug and grabbed the student. When she refused, he rubbed against her before letting her go, campus police said. That man was arrested nearby and banned from campus, Sacramento State Police Chief Chet Madison said.
